About the attractions of Watazen Ryokan
Watazen Ryokan is located in the centre of the city, known as the “navel of Kyoto”. It is an exciting area where Kyoto’s history, traditional culture, food culture and subcultures are all mixed together.
Many traditional architectural ‘Kyomachiya’ houses have been preserved around Watanzen, and have recently undergone a major transformation into a variety of shops.
The Nishiki Market and Shinkyogoku are within walking distance, and regardless of the weather, there are pickle shops, traditional crafts and souvenir shops, as well as handmade bags, accessories and other goods stores along the arcades, which are worth a visit by anyone.
1830 Since its founding, Watazen Ryokan has taken root in the city of Kyoto and has been loved as a local meeting place, and the hospitality that has been passed down through the generations is not eccentric, but aims to make your stay in Kyoto as comfortable as if you were at home. Today, a young couple runs the ryokan, but the hospitality of Watazen Ryokan will always be there to welcome you. A trip to Kyoto is worthwhile.
